Distillers Corn Oil Production Falls, Nearby Prices Trade Higher

Strong interest remains for bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) but trading today was limited to volume contracted to a price at future date. Buyers are pushing for higher prices based on strong nearby demand from the chemical and fuel industries and buyers are pushing back due to lower palm and soybean oil prices. High temps have tightened the amount of in-spec material thus limiting the nearby supply. Used cooking oil (UCO) and choice white grease were offered out higher as well, but buyers in the feed and biodiesel sector are pushing back the higher prices. Biodiesel buyers are citing thin to negative margins and feed buyers have exceeded their threshold for prices relative to corn.

Strong fuel demand continues to propel the distillers corn oil (DCO) market higher. Trading was done at higher levels FOB Missouri River today. Offers as high as 62 FOB are indicated for the nearby market, but thus far there has been no trading at significant volume. The EIA released ethanol…
