July US Renewable Fuel Consumption Down 3% From June

 

Biomass-Based Diesel RIN Production Falls 17%, Renewable Jet Fuel Consumption Rises 200%

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported 1.56 billion gallons of renewable fuel were consumed during July, 2.8 percent below June but 4.8 percent above July 2020. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) credit generation of 1.7 billion RINs was 4.5 percent below June but 3.8 percent over July 2020.  The biomass-based diesel category (D4) led the way lower with RIN production falling 17 percent and gallons consumed down 16 percent.

July biomass-based diesel (D4) consumption fell from 272.3 million gallon in June to 228.4 million gallons, reaching a 5-month low.  During July, biodiesel use fell six percent, renewable diesel use dropped 30 percent, and renewable jet fuel increased 206 percent.
