Organic Chicken Slaughter Rises

August has been a choppy month for organic grains. Organic corn spot prices have divergence as offers and bids have widened substantially. There are trades, according to Merchandisers, that are as low as $9 in the mid-West and as high as $10.50, but the size is thin. New crop organic corn prices are hovering near $9, but there is very little contracting.  New-crop organic corn is coming up in Texas. Approximately 20% of the new crop has been harvested in the region. The bid-offer spread remains vast in Texas, with consumers looking to pick up new-crop organic corn near $10.75 and offers closer to $11.75.

Organic Chicken Demand Remains Robust

Despite expectations that the organic corn crop in the U.S. is likely to be robust, organic animal protein is expected to continue to drive up organic feed demand.
