Is Consolidation in the Organic Industry Occurring?

 

Before several recent organic conferences, those NOT in the know have now heard that organic soybean and organic soybean prices are NOT likely to move lower. Demand remains robust, and supplies are limited. Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen sees the balances of organic soybean meals upside down by the end of the current marketing year. We are unsure of the price that will create significant demand destruction, but we currently have our projections topping 12-15% higher than current levels. We have heard a range of prices for organic soybeans, but most of the deals in the Eastern Mid-West are coming in between $34-$35 per bushel.
