Trading was fairly quiet today, but there was some action in the Chicago market late in the day. Four cars of packer BFT traded at higher prices on a Chicago basis today as did two cars of choice white grease.
The market was active at higher prices this week to star the new year. The Chicago packer BFT market had the biggest jump, finishing the week seven cents per pound higher than the start and up 7.9 percent compared to last week’s average. Distiller’s corn oil is up 7.2 percent from the week prior for the Missouri River market. Some short covering and concerns over January supply pushed prices higher on Monday and values continued to climb throughout the week for both Jan shipment as well as February and March. Choice white grease traded late yesterday as high as 59 cents per pound FOB, but the bulk of trading this week has been within the printed range. The weekly average price is up 5.9 percent compared to last week.
