LCFS Spot Market Trades Reach Three Week High

 

Weekly Credit Volume Third Highest of All-Time

LCFS credit volume for the week ending January 9, 2022, of 1,297,757 was 104 percent above last week and 82 percent above last year’s volume for the same period. Weekly credit volume was the third highest weekly total on record. Most of the volume was attributed to trading beyond a 10-day window, as spot volume within a defined 10-day range was lower week over week.

Week one first quarter volume is three percent below week one third quarter volume but five percent above Q1 of 2020. There were 110 transactions during the week, up from 34 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit declined $8.35 to $168.70. Of the 110 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 83,841 credits while Type 2 transfers accounted for 1,213,916 credits. Type 1 transfers were nine percent of the transactions and six percent of the volume, according to the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
