U.S Weekly Ethanol Output Slides, Stockpiles Increase

Total U.S. ethanol production was down but stocks were up during the week ending January 6, data released by the EIA showed. Ethanol production eased 42,000 barrels per day, or four percent, on the week to 1.006 million b/d. Output in the largest producing region of the Midwest fell 4.4 percent on the week to 947,000 b/d during the week. This was down from 989,000 b/d the week prior.   

During the first week of the new year, EIA showed U.S. ethanol stocks were up 6.7 percent to a total of 22.911 million. Midwestern ethanol stocks climbed more than…
