Monthly Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel Imports Largest Since 2016

 

Imports at Higest Levels Since Trade Duties Imposed on Argentina 

According to the Energy Information Agency (EIA), the United States imported 65.1 million gallons of biomass-based diesel during November. This is a record amount dating back to August of 2017 when the last large shipment of imports was received from Argentina before anti-dumping and countervailing duties were imposed.

Monthly imports were 22 percent above October and 42 percent over November 2020. Renewable diesel imports exceeded biodiesel imports by 13.4 million gallons.  California remains the primary market for renewable diesel in the US with strong margins driving demand.  Renewable diesel represented 57 percent of total biomass-based diesel imports during November, down from 63 percent last month.
