Organic Corn Prices Jump in Texas

Organic corn prices have stabilized in the PA region, trading near the $445 per short-ton level. These prices reached as high as $460 per short-ton during the past 3-weeks, but as consumers covered Q2 and Q3, these prices have slipped. Organic corn prices in the Texas area are now trading at the same levels seen in PA. Consumers are trying to pull organic and conventional products South. Less than 4-weeks ago, organic corn prices in the Texas region were trading $2 per bushel lower.

Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen that it’s challenging to find feed and food organic products in Texas. Most of the organic corn planted in the region has been consumed, and little is nearby. Elevated transportation levels make it challenging to draw mid-West organic corn south. In Quebec, new crop organic corn prices remain near current spot levels, with farmers quoting prices near $485-500 CAD…
