CVR Renewable Diesel Unit at Wynnewood Will be Running by April

Renewable Diesel Unit at Wynnewood Planned to be Running by April

Partially on easing of soybean oil basis levels, CVR Energy plans to complete the conversion of its hydrocracker into a renewable diesel unit at its Wynnewood, Oklahoma refinery and have it online by the middle of April, CVR Chief Executive David Lamp said during a recent earnings call. The new unit is expected to reach full operating capacity during the second quarter. The opening of the unit had been slated for the late summer/early fall of 2021 but was delayed due to winter weather, equipment delivery issues, and elevated feedstock (soybean oil) prices.

CVR is moving ahead with the instalation of the pre-treater at Wynnewood, but initially, it will use a mix of pre-treated soybean oil and corn oil on hand as feedstocks. CVR is also in talks with several vegetable oil…
