Highly Unsettled Tones Lead to Volatile Co-Production Grains

Weekly Market Update

Grain and feed items for the week were highly unsettled and mixed with most values swinging higher or lower. Last week’s expectations of continued pressure were forthright, with both DDGS and corn gluten items declining on the weekly averages. DDDGS were weaker across the board on the weekly average with most participants indicating the CBOT corn drops as well as limited interest on feed related items pressured values lower. A low of $205/st was reported in Iowa leading to a $21/st decline from yesterday. On the weekly averages, a 3.8 and 4.9 percent drop were noted for Illinois and MN/Dakotas, individually.

Corn gluten meal was under extreme pressure throughout the week and even had indications of rapid price declines on several days. A hand-to-mouth tone was communicated as well as limited offers and bids due to most sitting on the sideline.
