LCFS Credit Price Near-Term Bottom Appears Set

Weekly LCFS credit transaction volume bounced higher last week, bobbing above the 25-week low reached the week prior.  Credit prices moved to a 19-week high as the average spot market trade continued to trend above the average price of a contracted trade. Credit transactions during the week ending May 28, 2023, of 366,051, were 67 percent above the 218,597 credits traded the week prior, and noticeably over the 69,132 credits transacted last year. Additionally, trading was 36 percent below the prior four-week average of 573,631.

The average price paid per credit increased $3.15 to $83.43, a 19-week high, while the average value of a spot market trade increased $1.32 to $84.55.  The average spot market price is $1.12 above the average price for all trades.  This is significant, as it is the seventh consecutive week the average weekly spot price closed above the average…
