Fat Market Firm to Lower in Light Post-Holiday Trading

Trading was very dull with a few price changes this week following the extended Memorial Day holiday and the end of the month. Tallow was steady, while yellow and choice white grease prices were down amid another collapse in palm oil and soybean oil futures prices that sent the benchmark contracts spiraling to better-than-two-year lows earlier in the week. Still, renewed economic optimism following the passage of a bill by the U.S. House and Senate to suspend the U.S. debt ceiling until January 2025 helped veg oil futures rebound later in the week.
