Poultry-by Pet Grade and Chicken Meal Values Deflate

Poultry-by Pet Grade and Chicken Meal Values Deflate

Extreme price deflation was indicated on poultry-by pet grade (PFG PBM) for all three regions along with chicken meal, Mid-South. Multiple participants have communicated pushback and light volume on values over the current range. This is possibly due to several pet food companies witnessing stoppages for maintenance, increasing offering levels for the near term. Sizable volumes were moved at $800-850/st for the day in the Southeast for PFG PBM, while $845/st was the low end for the Mid-South. Chicken meal continued in extremely wide ranges, due to the push-pull atmosphere lingering. The bulk of trade was assessed at $1000-1100/st, with variations in volume throughout the spread as well as light trade and quick ships on both sides of the range.

Porcine bloodmeal was steady, while ruminant moved up on active to brisk demand, even as dairy farms reportedly start to pull bloodmeal out of feed due to dairy pricing slumps.
