Biofuels Displace Distillate Fuel Consumption on West Coast

In 2022, distillate fuel oil demand on the U.S. West Coast fell to its lowest level since 2002 and is expected to be even lower this year due to the increased use of biofuels, chiefly renewable diesel, the U.S. EIA said in its latest This Week in Petroleum report. Biofuels have gained a larger market share of the region’s diesel pool as clean-fuel programs incentivize their use.
