Animal proteins were steady to weaker for the day as soybean meal continues to show a negative price direction on the CBOT. The lower values have led to talks of reformulations for some leading to hit-and-miss demand. Ruminant meat and bonemeal saw a new high of $430/st on the Mo. River and a low of $390/st on the Tx. Panhandle. Values outside of the ranges could not be confirmed by press time. Ruminant bloodmeal was lower on Tx. Panhandle as well as the Mo. River on accounts of diminished interest. Feathermeal was flat for most regions, however, a value over $575/st could not be confirmed by end of day.
For week ending July 1st, 2023, broiler slaughter is anticipated to be 171.033 million head, 0.6 percent under 2022 but 2.1 percent higher from the previous week (Fig 1). Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is projected to average 167.586 million head per week, a rise of 0.6 and 2.4 percent compared to 2022 and 2021, individually.
