Weekly Average Prices for Fats, Oils Mostly Higher

Trading was very quiet to end the week and the month, with no changes reported. Twenty trucks of distiller’s corn oil (DCO) traded steady at 62 cts/lb FOB Nebraska/Kansas for the nearby position.

Average prices were mixed but mostly higher this week, with the sharpest gains in the packer BFT market. The weekly average finished at 63 cts/lb, increasing four percent. In-spec animal fat material remains tight because elevated temperatures have been impacting ff levels. Slower production kills, combined with the July 4 holiday on Tuesday, are expected to keep nearby supply limited.
