Falling Food Prices Drive Organic Purchasing

Food inflation is beginning to decelerate, which is good news for the organic consumer. According to the Department of Labor in the United States, the Consumer Price Index for June increased by 3 percent year over year compared to higher expectations. The largest detractor from the CPI report was a decline in energy prices which dropped 16 percent yearly. Food prices increased just 0.1 percent on the month while used vehicle prices, a primary source for the inflation surge in early 2022, declined 0.5 percent.
