There appears to be a concerted effort by the USDA and the National Organic Program (NOP) to crack down on organic soybean meal imported to the United States. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets that the NOP is working directly with Canadian officials to ensure that organic soybean meal has been crushed from organic beans and that the crushing facilities used to crush beans in Canada are up to par. They also focused on organic soybean meal imported into Canada for subsequent export to the United States.
