Corn and Soybean Quality Ratings Face Minor Setback

Corn gluten products were flat today, according to sources logistics remain an issue keeping prices of both corn gluten meal and feed level. However, market participants reported a rise in CIF NOLA prices of corn gluten meal.

Nearby CME grain prices were mixed today. Corn decreased by $0.0700, settling at $4.97/bu. Additionally, soybeans increased $0.1625, closing at $13.86/bu. Soymeal jumped to $428.10/st, increasing by $4.30, while wheat decreased by $0.1350 to reach $6.52/bu.

For this week’s crop condition report soybeans, corn and spring wheat had a decrease in condition compared to the previous week. As of July 31st, the corn crop condition is as follows: 15 percent of the crop is reported to be in poor to very poor condition, 30 percent as fair, and 55 percent as good to excellent.
