Organic Grain Markets Stagnate but Broader Economy Points to Sustained Growth

Inactivity is the only way to describe the current state of the organic grain markets. Bids and offers continue to widen, as the game of ‘chicken’ continues to generate price discovery. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets that some bids for organic corn on the East Coast have dropped below $400, while offers remain near the $435 level.

We have harped on the concept that despite lower prices for organic feed ingredients, demand remains strong likely due to a robust jobs market. A strong jobs market allows people to consume organic poultry, dairy, and eggs, using their discretionary income.
