Record Setting Heat Stresses Organic Crops and Livestock

Organic feed ingredients continue to experience light to moderate demand as crops begin to mature in the US.  39 percent of corn in Illinois and Iowa are reporting denting.  Drought stricken Missouri and Kansas are seeing some expected advanced maturity, reporting 61 percent and 48 percent dented corn in the 2023 crop.

Iowa leads the US in reported pod set, with 94 percent of the Iowa soybean crop reporting setting pods.  Kansas and Michigan are at the bottom of soybean crop maturity, with 76 percent and 79 percent respectively reporting pod set in these rainfall deficit states.
