The Green Bison Soybean Processing plant in Spiritwood North Dakota is a 75/25 joint venture between ADM and Marathon Petroleum. The Spiritwood facility is North Dakota’s first exclusively dedicated soybean crushing plant and as stated by Governor Doug Burgum, “is going to be a game-changer that’s going to provide lasting benefits to North Dakota farmers.”

Green Bison will have a processing capacity of 150,000 bushels of soybeans per day. Production is expected to create 600 million pounds of refined soybean oil per year, fueling production of approximately 71 million gallons of renewable diesel per year. Additionally, 1.28 million tons of soybean meal will be produced annually, about 3,300 tons per day, and used as a high protein supplement in animal feed.
