Lower Bids on Wisconsin Organic Corn Gain Traction

Lower Bids on Wisconsin Organic Corn Gain Traction

The bids for new crop organic corn prices are subdued. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets that their bids at $8-8.5 per bushel are getting minor activity in Wisconsin. Wisconsin has historically been one of the least expensive places to buy organic corn, and farmers delivering to storage facilities continue to see high diesel prices. They are unwilling to truck their corn to different locations where they could see higher values. Growers have also told Fastmarkets that they could sell new crop organic corn below $10 per bushel. With a spot price between $9.50 and $10.50 in different locations in the Midwest, the lower new crop price in Wisconsin does not seem unreasonable.
