Week-on-Week Negative Price Pressure on Ruminant MBM

Week-on-Week Negative Price Pressure on Ruminant MBM

Limited trade was reported at the close of the week, leaving values unchanged for Friday.

Pressure has been reported for about a month on ruminant meat and bonemeal (MBM), however, diminished slaughter levels and consistent demand has left values steady for several weeks. This week saw the first sign of negative price pressure as the low side of the Mo. River dropped by $15/st to $375/st. The widening range on ruminant meat and bonemeal is likely due to active demand on pure beef MBM while mixed species MBM is under pressure from the drop on soybean meal. Porcine MBM pricing decreased on the high side for the Mo. River on accounts of buyer pushback.

Bloodmeal values for the week were mixed, with porcine flat but showing a weekly average rise of 2.5 percent from end of week price gains last week. Ruminant bloodmeal had wider ranges, pushing up the week-on-week average by 2.0 percent.
