Cattle Slaughter Higher into November but Still Well Below 2022

Limited trade was communicated for the start of the week with values reported falling in between the previously set ranges.

For the week ending October 14th, cattle slaughter is forecasted at 635,000 head, a 4.1- percent decrease from 2022 but a 1.1-percent rise from last week. Over the next six weeks, cattle slaughter is expected to average 645,830 head per week, down 3.5 percent from 2022 but up 0.6 percent from 2021, respectively.

According to the USDA Actual Slaughter Under Federal Inspection for September 27th, average live weights were at 1,370 pounds, three-pounds lower than 2022 for the respective week.
