WASDE Pushes SBM Values Higher, Heightening Animal Protein Unease

Most values on animal proteins were flat for the day with trading reported within the previously set ranges. The only marginal adjustment was on porcine meat and bonemeal, Mo. River with a trade at $415/st reported late on Wednesday. The high end of the ranges on porcine meat and bonemeal has been communicated as ‘hard to move’ for some, while others were able to trade fairly easily at the higher ranges.

There were increases on soybean meal Wednesday and Thursday due to new projections on the WASDE as well as the USDA Crop Production. This has led to increased unease in the animal proteins market with the CME soybean meal December futures moving upwards $20 in two days to $392.90, a value in line with September’s highs.
