Corn Oil, Cottonseed Oil Prices Slump on Limited Demand

Spot corn oil and cottonseed oil indications edged slightly lower this week amid ongoing lackluster demand. Transportation challenges due to railroad embargoes have reportedly impacted some vegetable oil shipments to the Gulf, trading sources said.

Midwest crude corn oil was indicated at 56-57 cts/lb FOB, stepping down from 57-58 cts/lb FOB previously. Bids and offers for refined corn oil in the region were reported in the mid- to high 70s cts/lb FOB. Mississippi Valley cottonseed oil (PBSY) prices slipped from 68 cts/lb FOB last week to 66 cts/lb FOB this week. PBSY cottonseed oil prices have been on an overall downward trajectory since the start of the year, down 32 cts/lb, or more than 30 percent, from January 1.
