LCFS Transactions Trend Higher, Prices Lower in Latest Week

Weekly LCFS credit volume increased modestly from the week prior while credit prices headed lower, falling to a three-week low. If volume continues to follow the cyclical trend, the market might see a significant boost in credit transfers next week, followed by a sharp reduction until December. Second quarter 2023 LCFS data will be released October 31, 2023. The next LCFS reporting period ends January 2, 2024, and has a publication date of January 31, 2024.

2023 LCFS credit volume reached 27.9 million contracts transacted, which is 4.28 million above 2022 volume through the same period. The value of the transactions is 2.13 billion, approximately $1.04 billion less than in 2022. The average 2023 credit price of $76.10 is fifty-nine percent below the 2022 average of $121.10.
