Severe Drought Conditions Continue in the South

There was minimal trading of grain and feed products this week, with only a few reported trades on DDGS and corn gluten items. However, the market is seeing growing concern over conditions in key growing regions due to an increase in drought in recent weeks. This situation has farmers worried about potential losses in corn harvests as a result of these extreme conditions.

The latest update from the Drought Monitor has revealed that the South and Southeast regions of the U.S. have continued to suffer from dry weather this week. Unfortunately, the drought in these areas has now reached unprecedented levels. Meanwhile, the Corn Belt region has also been affected by an ongoing exceptional drought. Since July 25, the drought in both regions has intensified due to abnormally high temperatures and a lack of rainfall. (Fig. 1)
