Tallow Used to Produce Biofuels Reached New High in August

The animal fat market was more active on Tuesday, with a handful of price changes reported. Still, many buyers and sellers remained on the sidelines, waiting out the end of the month. Two railcars of edible tallow traded down 9 cents to 58 cts/lb Chicago today. Used cooking oil (UCO) traded down to 43 cts/lb FOB in California. 

At the distiller’s corn oil market, sources indicated that buyers hinted at lower FOB prices, but sellers were not “ready to bite that bullet,” and drop offers any further.
