Protein Market Steady Despite Strong Australian Production

The overall market was fairly quiet this week with few changes reported. Values were steady into the Indonesia and China markets, but were indicated higher into Vietnam and Taiwan. Australian domestic values were higher despite strong production. Hot and dry weather is pushing more cattle into the packing houses, which is keeping the market well supplied with meat and bone meal. The MLA estimated the national Australian cattle slaughter for last week at 131,488 head, up 1.1 percent from the week prior.
