Animal Protein Market Trends Lower Despite Soybean Meal Strength

The market was quiet today, although ruminant MBM did trade lower out of the Mo. River market.

For the week, the animal protein market was fairly quiet with wide ranges indicated throughout the complex. Prices did trend lower somewhat despite a stronger soybean meal market. Pet food grade poultry by-product meal (PFG PBM) had the biggest drop this week with the Mid South market down to an average of $695 FOB. Sources reported trading as low as $600 for PFG PBM this week, and there were multiple reports of heavy, nearby spot supply.
