CVR to Evaluate Possible Biofuels Project at Kansas Plant

CVR Renewables CVL, LLC, a subsidiary of CVR Energy Inc., will evaluate a potential project to generate biofuels from feedstocks such as distillers corn oil at its Coffeyville plant in Kansas.

The project would use Honeywell’s Ecofining technology, according to a news release. Honeywell said the potential new Ecofining plant would convert around 30,000 barrels per day of waste feeds/feedstocks into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel, and other products.

SAF produced with Honeywell’s Ecofining technology is a replacement fuel that does not require changes to aircraft technology or fuel infrastructure. SAF can be used in blends of up to 50 percent with the remainder being conventional, or fossil fuel-based, jet fuel.
