Trading was very quiet this week with no changes reported in the export or destination markets. Sources indicated that strong supply has created some headwinds in the exporting markets. Australian weekly cattle slaughter was reported at 128,454 head, down 4 percent from last week, while the figure marked a 22 percent positive year-on-year change, according to the National Slaughter report from the MLA. Year to date slaughter now stands at 5,391,155 head.

Logistics issues, including jammed ports and slower unload times, as well as added scrutiny from buyers, have contributed to slow turn arounds.
