Glycerin Producers Remain Hopeful

Prices have been trending higher for crude and kosher crude glycerin in recent weeks, while refined prices have remained fairly stable. Weather, speculation, and strong demand from the animal feed sector are helping to underpin prices.

Colder weather has sparked some interest from the coal freeze industry with one glycerin trader noting he is currently selling all he can handle at nine cents per pound. Another trader with connections in the coal freeze industry has said several buyers purchased product earlier in the year and storage remains largely full, adding he doesn’t expect them to force prices too much higher in the near term.
