Texas Organic Dairy Highlights Need for New Livestock Rules

Danone, parent company to the Horizon Organic brand has “suspended all sourcing of milk” from Texas organic milk supplier Lone Star Organic Dairy following a whistleblowers report released by PETA showed inhumane animal treatment at the dairy.

While the whistleblower’s report released by PETA is unlikely to have any meaningful effects on Danone, efforts by PETA to compel the USDA NOP to investigate Lone Star and revoke their certification if violations are substantiated is a significant threat to Lone Star Organic Dairy.
