Organic Trade Flows in Transition

Organic grain and oilseed trade flows remain in flux.  Importers at the Unconventional Ag conference in Dallas this week told Fastmarkets that there are at least four operational organic soy processing plants in Togo.  Much of this trade flow is facilitated by Indian traders that were formerly engaged in exports originating in India.

The Indian soybean meal export market has effectively been deconstructed vis-à-vis trade action and there is consensus that Indian organic soybean meal imports will not return to previous levels in the foreseeable future. The pivot to Africa is creating ample opportunity.
