Organic grain markets are typically slow in December, according to merchandisers, with the exception of those operators that service end users like feeders. These operations – and many more – are reluctant to accrue large inventories after carrying grain purchased at much higher prices.
As the holidays approach, animal feeders are keen to secure grain deliveries. For the most part, pricing has not responded to a slowdown in demand as farmers and merchandisers have been reluctant to take a loss on their positions, but this could change in the new year.
