Pressure Lingers on MBM Ahead of Long Christmas Weekend

Pressure Lingers on MBM Ahead of Long Christmas Weekend

**Please note – The Jacobsen will close trade for the animal proteins bulletin on Friday, Dec 22nd at 2 pm CT and publish shortly thereafter. There will be no reports on Monday, Dec 25th.**

Light trade was indicated in advance of the long holiday weekend, leaving values rangebound for the day.

Animal proteins were mixed on the weekly averages. Meat and bonemeal (MBM) variants were lower, bloodmeal (BM) was steady to higher, and poultry by-product pet grade was down slightly from last week.

Mo. River ruminant MBM market was down 3.6 percent from last week’s average, while porcine MBM fell 3.7 percent out of the Mo. River market. Porcine MBM continues to trade at a premium to ruminant material. Pressure continues to be indicated on both porcine and ruminant meat and bonemeal, though some expect the excess offerings to be cleaned up following the holidays in the coming weeks.
