2023 Biodiesel Exports Reach Record High in November

U.S. biodiesel imports eased for a second consecutive month in November after reaching a multi-year monthly high of 55.4 million gallons during September. Despite the pull-back, November imports were the highest recorded for any November month since 2016.

Exports were also lower in November, dropping 20 percent from the month prior. November 2023 exports were the largest for any prior November on record, helping to propel 2023 exports to a new record high despite having one month left in the year.

November imports reached 466 million gallons, surpassing full-year 2022 imports by 97 percent. Nearly 47 million gallons were imported during the month, six percent below October imports but 31 percent above the 36 million gallons received during November 2022. Additionally, imports were 89 percent above the five-year November average of 25 million gallons.
