International Animal Proteins – 11-01-24

The international animal protein market was mixed for the start of 2024. Meat and bonemeal (MBM) exports out of Australia were higher with a new range of AU$780-820/mt.

MBM prices were lower into the Asian markets again this week. Exports for meat and bonemeal into China and Indonesia continue to be sluggish on accounts of dropped interest with both in the US$570-575/mt range.

Ovine MBM also remains under pressure with diminished interest communicated from multiple sources. Bids below the current range for Australia DCT could not be confirmed as of press time. New Zealand ovine MBM was steady for the week.

Bloodmeal Australia moved higher on accounts of active demand in the first month of 2024. New Zealand saw steady to lower interest for the current sessions. Feathermeal was slightly lower out of Australia and into Southeast Asia.
