Frigid Temperatures Keep Most Spot Values Flat

Several participants in the protein sector have communicated steady values as they contend with snowstorms and temperature drops. Due to the severe temperature drops and snow accumulation, contacts in some locations have stated difficulty getting employees to the plants and livestock into facilities. Trucks have been halted in several areas due to road closures or gelled engines. Spot trades have been limited due to most focusing on logistics and plant production.

In the Southeast, poultry by-product pet grade was called steady to slightly lower with wider ranges reported. A low of $525/st was reported in the Southeast in large volume, leading to a $525-650/st range.
