Hog Slaughter Forecasted Over 2023 Through February

Limited trade was reported in the animal proteins market, leaving values steady for the start of the week.

For the week ending February 10, 2024, hog slaughter is forecasted at 2.60 million head, up 5.1 percent from 2023 but down 3.4 percent from last week. Over the next six weeks, hog slaughter is expected to average 2.50 million head per week, 1.6 percent above 2023 levels.
