Soybean Export Sales Increase but Fall Below Expectations

Weekly Export Sales – Released February 8, 2024

Soybean export sales for the week ending February 1st amounted to 340.8 thousand metric tons (TMT) for marketing year 2023/24. This increased 176.3 TMT from last week but was below the prior four-week average of 446.8 TMT. Export sales for the 2024/25 crop season were 9.2 TMT, increasing the total sales to 350 TMT. Combined crop year sales were higher than the previous week but fell below the expected range of 400-1000 TMT. Accumulated export commitments amounted to 160.4 percent of the USDA forecast, which was higher than commitment levels for the previous year. Major purchases were made by China (1,152,100 MT), the Netherlands (134,500 MT), Mexico (118,700 MT), Bangladesh (59,900 MT), and Turkey (59,700 MT).
