Biomass-Based Diesel Feedstock Demand Hits All-Time High in December

EIA Biofuels Capacity and Feedstock Update

The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Monthly Biofuels Capacity and Feedstocks Update showed operable US Biofuel capacity edged lower from November’s all-time high. Total capacity of 23.76 billion gallons was six million gallons below November but 1.6 billion above December 2022 capacity of 22.12 billion gallons. The Petroleum Supply Monthly report disclosed refinery and blender net inputs of renewable fuel to be 28.4 million barrels, 269 thousand barrels below November input, and 551 thousand barrels under December 2022. US inputs of renewable fuel were 60 percent of capacity.
