UCO and Yellow Grease Trade Higher into the US Gulf Market

Used cooking oil (UCO) prices were higher today into the Gulf market at 39.5 – 41.5 cts/lb delivered. A wide range is likely to persist in the near term as timing, volume and shipping mode all are impacting price.
Yellow grease prices were higher into the Gulf market as well today, bolstered by higher UCO prices.
Interior trading was quiet but strong BFT demand continues from the chemical sector.
The USDA released US fat export estimates for December this week. Inedible tallow exports were up just over 1,400 mt from November and the yearly export total for 2023 is down 106,278 mt or roughly 50 percent from 2022 levels.
Tallow exports were once again primarily destined for Mexico (5,825 mt) and Canada (3,571 mt). There were 366 mt of inedible tallow exported to Trinidad and Tobago in December.
