Organic Soybean Meal Imports test Current Price Floor

While organic feed commodities seek bottom, growers continue to scrutinize their spring planting choices for 2024. Range-bound organic soybeans may present more risk for growers than organic corn with its ongoing price softening.  As noted in yesterday’s commentary, this is a phenomenon of yield potential, where organic corn has a marked advantage over fussy, lower yielding organic soybeans.

Considerable volumes of organic soybean meal were imported in January, confirmed by traders who told Fastmarkets that containers of organic soybean meal were arriving at an accelerated pace through February at East Coast ports.
