February soybean crush hits record monthly high

US soybean crush was 186.194 million bushels (bu) in February, up 414,000 bu, or 0.22%, on the month, the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) showed on March 15. This was the largest soybean crush for any February on record and surpassed the February 2023 rate of 165.41 million bu by 12.6%.

NOPA members process about 95% of the country’s soybeans. In the last year, crushers have ramped up processing capacity to meet rising edible oil demand from the biofuels sector. However, cold winter weather across the Midwest in mid-January impacted both logistical operations and production at several plants.
