EU UCO premium to US continues to grow

The US animal fats and oils market was mostly quiet on Thursday April 18, with a handful of price changes reported. Choice white grease (CWG) into the Missouri River traded as low as 37.50 cents per lb FOB, with indications within a range of 37.50-39.50 cents per lb FOB.

Yellow grease buyers from the renewable diesel sector pushed back on current offers, according to one market source. Yellow grease traded as low as 38 cents per lb into the Gulf for May.

Used cooking oil (UCO) into the Gulf market traded slightly higher, between 39-41.50 cents lb delivered. UCO indications in Illinois moved down to 35-37 cents per lb FOB, from 37-38 cents per lb FOB the day prior.

Lower-than-expected nearby demand has weighed on UCO prices in the domestic US market, while stronger Asian UCO prices have contributed to a move higher in the European market.
